Obituary

Clarksville, TN - With sadness we announce the passing of Mr. Adam Marshall, the spouse of Mrs. Johnnie Marshall, both&formerly of 202 Lawn Street. Mr. Marshall passed away on Saturday, September 05, 2020.


Adam was born July 5, 1934, to the union of the late Bury and Alice Taylor Marshall. One sister, Mattie and brothers, Willie Roy, Charlie, Chester, and Walter; half-siblings Floyd Keen and Coral Rogers all preceded him in death.


He confessed a hope in Christ early in his life and became a devoted servant at Belvin A.M.E.Church for more than sixty years. He was affectionately known as "Tang." As his health began to fail, he was unable to attend his beloved Belvin, but remained steadfast in his love for it and the congregation. He attended the local schools in Macon County and worked the farmlands as a young boy.


Adam united in Holy Matrimony to Johnnie Mae Brown in November of 1954 and the couple moved to Fort Valley, Georgia; to this union, three, big-eyed girls were born.


Adam worked as a common laborer on the farms in Macon County, Georgia. Upon moving to Fort Valley, GA, he began working at theHappyvaleFlour Mill, as a truck driver. He later became employed by the USDA Southeastern Fruit and Tree Nut Research Laboratory in Byron, Georgia, where he served as a Heavy Equipment Operator. In 1990, Adam began working at the Warner Robins Air Force Base in the same capacity before moving to Supply Technician and retiring from Warner Robins Air Force Base.


Adam loved working and helping others. He also served as a security guard for Sears andbar tenderedfor local events. He was also a member of Fred Douglas Lodge #143 where he served the Brotherhood faithfully.


As Adam's health began to decline in 2012, he moved to the AHC nursing facility in Clarksville, TN. He remained there until the Lord called him from Labor to Reward. Adam was a very kind, gentle, and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.


Adam leaves to mourn his memory, his wife of 65 years, Johnnie Mae, his daughters Wanda Snead (Donald) of Clarksville, TN, Lisa Williams (Darrell) of Indian Head, MD, and Sylvia Lewis (Allen) of Little Rock, AR, and his son, Jimmy Lee Scott of Georgetown, GA. Also, his sister Gladys Davis of Miami, FL and brother Bura (Mary) Marshall, White Plains, NY and two sisters-in-law Mattie General and Betty Marshall of Fort Valley, GA.; seven grandchildren, Ursula and Jarhett (LaToya) Snead, Brian and Jason Booker, Allen Lewis III, Sarita and Jimmie Lee Scott Jr., seven great-grandchildren, a devoted nephew Willie Marshall (Annie), Perry, Georgia, and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and an abundance of sorrowing friends.
