Atlanta, Georgia- It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ms. Betty Jean Odum of Cordele, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 while a patient at&Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
Betty Jean Odums was born on April 9, 1974 in Crisp County, Georgia. She is the oldest of five children for Ethel Brown and George Westbrook.
She was preceded in death by two children, Betitna Towns and Jamulus Towns, her mother, Ms. Ethel Brown, Stepfather, Mr. Charles Brown, grandparents, Mrs. Ollie Parker, Mrs. E.J. Parker, and Mr. George Westbrook, Sr., two uncles, Mr. Willie B. Redding, Sr., Mr. Byron Westbrook, and a loving aunt, Mrs. Gale W. Dawson.
She attended schools in the Crisp County School System.
Betty Jean loved sitting around the house and having fun with family and friends. She especially enjoyed talking on the cellphone with cousins and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a passionate gardener and fisherwoman. These are two things where she found her comfort.
She cared about everybody and never met a stranger. She was entertaining, funny, and knew exactly what to say to produce a smile from a person's face. She was a diehard Dallas Cowboy's fan.
She is survived by: her children three children, Gregory Odums, Gerard Towns, and Brittany Towns, all of Cordele, Georgia; a devoted father, Bishop George (Tronda) Westbrook, Tifton, Georgia; ; a beloved grandmother, Mrs. Ruth Westbrook, Arabi, Georgia; three brothers, Charles Avery Brown, Jr., Christopher Brown, Carlo Brown, and two sisters, Sharita Brown, Cordele, Georgia and Denise (Cornelius) Hall, Tifton, Georgia; two stepbrothers, Marvin Waller, Tifton, Georgia and Jermaine (Alvita) Lewis, Vienna, Georgia, a stepsister, Erica (Gary) Burton, Athens, Georgia, several devoted aunts and uncles, Ollie (Eddie), Kennedy, Atlanta, GA, Mamie Lou Hamilton, Cordele, Georgia; Jimmy Odums, Cordele, Georgia; Eddie (Deborah) Walker, Arabi, Georgia, Elder Helen (Melvin) Dunlap, Arabi, Georgia, Willie (Lynn) Westbrook, Cordele, Georgia, Minister Gloria (Norris) Mathis, Warner Robins, Georgia, and ahost of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and an abundance of comrades and friends.
