With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Mr. Cregory Nance, Sr. of 402 10th Street South. Mr. Nance abruptly passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at the Upson Thompson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston. Georgia.

The viewing will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the A.S. Clark Auditorium on the M.D. Whitest Medical Institute Campus in Cordele, Georgia.

The Funeral Services will be held&Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. in the A. S. Clark Auditorium on the M. D. Whitest Medical Institute Campus in Cordele, Georgia.

The burial will follow at the SunnysideCemetery in Cordele, Georgia.

After an eight year hiatus of new births in his immediate family, Cregory showed up on the scene, an eight pound plus bouncing baby boy, much to the delight of his parents and two older doting and proud brothers. As a toddler, his mother affectionately nicknamed him "Beanie," because of his love of hot dogs. From that point on, his family and friends would call him "Beanie." Over time, in his neighborhood, in school, and in life he developed a big personality and spirit with a huge heart to match, and everyone could count of him to be the life of the party and exude joy and light to all in his midst.

After graduating from Crisp County High School in 1994, he spent a brief tenure at West Georgia State University in Carrollton, Georgia furthering his education. Eventually, he would go on to enlist in the U.S. Army before coming back home to work in Cordele. To better his life and provide for his family, he moved to Fredericksburg, VA, where he worked for Target and quickly became a management favorite and moved up the ranks, because of his characteristic relentless work ethic that would follow him from job to job. After transferring back to South Georgia with Target, he would go on to work a host of jobs, including with Walmart and most recently with Perdue, where in both places, he was promoted to the supervisory ranks in short order.

Through good times and bad times, Cregory would find solace in his beloved Little Rock Baptist Church in Arabi, Georgia, where the Pastor, Reverend Joseph Greene, became his confidant, friend, and advisor. On weekends, for Cregory, it was all about watching sports, especially college and NFL football during season. Very few things gave him as much joy as watching his mighty San Francisco 49ers crush an opponent on any given Sunday. A devoted father, his children were his pride and joy, and he was fiercely protective of them, as he considered being a father his greatest gift and most important divine assignment.
