Fort Valley, GA - Funeral services for Mrs. Deloris Mae Harris of 108 Morris Street will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2016 in the sanctuary of Harris Chapel CME Church at 1:00 PM &in Crawford County. Burial will follow in the church yard cemetery. The family may be contacted at their residence.
Delores Mae Harris was born August 15, 1928 in Crawford County, Georgia to the late Jerome and Annie Lee Robinson Harris. She made her transition onJanuary 14, 2016 at her home. Her son, Alfred, sister Vivian, brothers, Kelly and Roy, and nephew Arthur, preceded her in death.
She graduated from H.A. Hunt Hugh School in 1948. After graduation she entered Fort Valley State College and completed one quarter. Soon after leaving the college, she entered the world of work. She began working at Fort Valley State as a custodial worker. She would remain working for the college until she retired in 1994 after 34 years. Delores decided to serve the Lord at an early age. She joined Harris Chapel C.M.E. Church where she worked diligently throughout her life. She served as President of the Stewardness and Missionary Board. Her dedication to the up-building of the church can be seen throughout the church sanctuary and the church annex. She was always willing to make any contribution in whatever capacity she could to improve the upkeep of Harris Chapel.
Her life will always be celebrated by her loved ones; one grandson, Bwana (Tamisha) Bembry; one daughter, Wendy Griffin, four great grand children, Trevion Brothers, Chalon Bembry, Jai Bembry, and Joy Bebmbry, all of Warner Robins, Georgia; one God son, Willie (Louise) Little, Fort Valley, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Ida Mae Harris, Forsyth, Georgia; one daughter-in-law, Bobby Jean Shannon, Roberta, Georgia; cousins, Donald (Sheila) Robinson, Fort Valley, Georgia; Harry Robinson, Albany, Georgia; Elliott (Jeannette) Robinson, Hummelstown, Pennsylvania; Gwen Robinson and Jerry Robinson, East Palatka, Florida; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and many surviving friends.
