Fort Valley, Georgia - &Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Mae Blalock-Simmons will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of St. Peter AME Church with Rev. Robert Angrish, officiating and Presiding Elder Bertram Smith delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Willow Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Blalock-Simmons was born to the late Joseph Bryant and the late Lizzie Mae Blalock on February 11, 1937. Shepassed away on December 25, 2015.

The greatest thing about Dorothy's life is when she came to know the Lord at Mount Olive C.M.E. Church and later became a full-fledged member of St. Peter A.M.E. Church where she served on the Stewardess and Usher boards. She worked at Hunt Elementary School for many years as a cook in the cafeteria.

In January of 1961, She married the late Mr. Robert Lee Simmons, Sr. and this union was blessed with four children.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories four children: Gregory K. Simmons; Janet D. Lyons(Richard) of Fort Valley, GA; Zine D. Schofield (Gregory) of Warner Robins, GA and Robert Lee Simmons, Jr. (Josee) of Qubec, Canada; one devoted sister-in-law, Ruby Rumph of Byron, GA; one devoted cousin, Nona King, Fort Valley, GA; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many sorrowing friends.
