Fort Valley, Georgia - Mrs. Esther Marie Grimes began her journey on May 15, 1954, when she was born to the parentage of Mr. Adolph and Mrs. Mary Prokop in Rushville, Nebraska, who both precedes her in death.

& She grew up in Rushville and attended the public schools. Upon graduating from high school, she decided she would attend Frontier School of the Bible in La Grange, Wyoming. While working in Rushville, Esther met Ennis Grimes, Sr., who had recently been contracted to be a building inspector at the Oglala Sioux reservation. Thereafter, Ennis and Esther married. Through their union, their son, Jamie Grimes was born. Ennis and Esther moved their family Georgia, where Esther worked as a security guard at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
After the move to Central Georgia, Esther desired to further her education by completing the Architectural Drafting program at Central Georgia Technical College in Macon, GA. She pursued her dreams and goals by matriculating at Fort Valley State College, now Fort Valley State University receiving a B.S. in Business Education and a M.S. in Education. She continued to pursue higher learning and received a Specialist in Education from Georgia Southwestern State University, Americus, GA.
In the years following, Esther gave birth to a beautiful daughter, Kristen Grimes. and begin her career as an educator at Crawford County Elementary School. Esther continued to use her drafting skills throughout her educational career by drafting blueprints for many local buildings, including an expansion for Shiloh Baptist Church, Fort Valley, GA. She was extremely dedicated and gave her time by molding and shaping young minds, as well as, mentoring other educators.
After spending 37 years with the love of her life, Ennis Grimes, Sr., Esther was called home on the evening of October 24, 2015.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: a loving and devoted husband, Ennis Grimes, Sr., Fort Valley, GA; two loving children, Jamie Grimes (son); Kristen Grimes (daughter); Shirley Ward (cousin); Patty Mestaz (cousin); Rebecca Howie (daughter-in-law); Connie Ferris-Lane, Barbara White, and countless other family and friends.
