Evangeline Jones Williams Carson

January 28, 1930 – August 06, 2021&

Fort Valley, Georgia

It is with great sadness to announce that on August 06, 2021, Evangeline Jones Williams Carson transitioned from Earth to be with her Heavenly Father.

Evangeline (Van) was born on January 28, 1930, in Leslie, GA. She left home at the age of 16 to go to high school in Americus, GA; and later to Fort Valley where she graduated from Fort Valley State College. Van met W.H. Williams and exchanged vows of holy matrimony in 1951. Their marriage produced six wonderful children (Cathy, Brenda, W.H. Jr., Ronald, Ray and Ann). Van also has six grandchildren (Cathy, Christy, Oreale', Rona, Oriana and Melanie).

After the death of W.H. in 1985, Van later met Rudolph Carson at church where they both held their membership.

Van retired as a school teacher after 32 years of dedicated service. She loves children and made a difference in their lives. In doing so, she leaves a lasting impression. Even today, her former students speak of the fond and loving memories in her classroom.

As a retiree, Van served 12 years as a board member of the Peach County Board of Education. Van served as a deaconess at her church (Central Union Baptist Church). She also volunteered with the Food Bank at her church. Van enjoys sewing, gardening and watching The Price Is Right. "Van Carson, come on up! You're the next contestant for the Saints of God."

Advice to pass on to next generations: "Do your very best on whatever job you may have. Always be honest, sincere, dedicated and fair. Give the world your very best; and the best will come back to you."

Van Carson was preceded in death by her husband of first marriage (W.H. Williams) and Rudolph Carson of second marriage. She was also preceded by a host of sisters and brothers (Capus Jones; Solomon Jones; Mildred Jones Smith; Bertha Mae Jones Marshall; Freddie Lee Jones Cooper; Counsel Jones; David C. Jones; Walter Sue Jones Hill; and Stanley Jones).

Van Carson leaves six children to cherish her memories: Cathy Epps (Willie); Brenda Wisdom (Oscar); W. H. Williams, Jr; Ronald Williams; Ray Williams; and Angeline Williams-Brown (Dean).

In addition, Van leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
