Obituary

Atlanta, Georgia - Dr. Gene Ingram, age 81, transitioned peacefully to his heavenly home at Emory St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia on March 7, 2016.& He was a native of Reynolds, Georgia and born on September 26, 1934 to the late Liner and Bertha Ross Ingram. He was the tenth of twelve children and was affectionately called "Baby Gene" by family members and close friends. He received his BS and MS degrees in Elementary Education from Fort Valley State College; an Educational Specialist (ED.S.) degree from Troy State University; and a Ph.D. degree in Elementary Education from Pacific Western University. Dr. Ingram taught elementary and special education in Houston County for 17 years and 20 years in Taylor County. He served in the US Army for three years during the Korean War.


In spite of his many accomplishments, Dr. Ingram was a man of integrity and compassion who deeply loved his family. He is survived by his wife for 48 years, Sally L. Ingram; two children, Dr. Cassandra G. (Lucien) Tancil, Atlanta GA and E. Barnard (Kimberly) Ingram, Plano TX; four grandchildren, Evan and Jillian Tancil and Jessenia and Xavier Ingram; two sisters, Lorene Ingram and Cecilia (Arthur) Miller of Reynolds, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.


Services will be held on March 12, 2016, at 1PM at Springfield Baptist Church, Reynolds GA, followed by interment in Willow Lake Memorial Gardens, Fort Valley GA. C.J. Edwards Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
