Cordele,Georgia - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Gladys C. Johnson of 1305 East 8th Avenue Apt-E, formerly of Vienna, Georgia.&

A beautiful and caring soul was welcomed to this world on December 15, 1944 when Gladys Marie Cotton was born to parentage of Mrs. Betsy Cotton and Mr. Pee Wee Lewis.

Gladys possessed a very kind and caring spirit. She was always willing to go the extra mile to help her family and others and never complained. Absolutely nothing measured up to the love she had for her family. She never wavered in loving and caring for family her husband, children, and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Vanessa Leggett, Mrs. Lillie Mae Billings, three brothers, Mr. Cal Cotton, Rev. Willie James Cotton and Mr. Buddy Cotton.

On Tuesday, April 14, 2020, her beautiful and caring soul was set free from this life. Her soul is free of pain and suffering. While her family will forever love and miss her, it is comforting to know that she is with her parents, Mrs. Betsy Cotton, Mr. Pee Wee Lewis and her siblings, Mrs. Vanessa Leggett, Mrs. Lillie Mae Billings, Mr. Cal Cotton, Rev. Willie James Cotton and Mr. Buddy Cotton.

Precious memories of her life will live on in the hearts and minds of her loving and devoted husband, Mr. Bennie James Johnson Sr, of Cordele, GA, four children, Mrs. Reatha Mae (Deacon James, Sr.) Collier of Vienna, GA, Mr. Eddie James (Janice) Johnson, Hiram, Georgia, Mr. Bennie James(Minnie) Johnson, Jr., and Mr. Robert (Tiffany) Johnson, 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, a devoted and caring niece, Mary Alice Johnson Smith, a devoted grandchild, Raven Johnson, and host cousins, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends.

The family will receive friends at Bentley Carson Memorial Funeral Home in Cordele, Ga on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at 12 noon until 2:00 PM. We are gracious to our colleagues in the funeral service profession for extending the courtesy to the Johnson family and allowing the CJ Edwards Funeral Home to utilize their facility for visitation in Cordele. This is what it's all about helping others in times like these.
