& Funeral Services for Ms.Hattie Carol "Jot" Shipman

The beauty of life was revealed in so many wonderful ways through the life of our beloved, Ms. Hattie Carol Shipman. Born April 21,1947 in Ashburn, GA to the late

Mr. Gus Shipman and Ms. Marion Martin. She was an awesome daughter, mother, grandmother, and loving sister; literally she never met a stranger.

Hattie Carol was affectionately known as "Jot" or "Mama Carol," by many of her family and friends. Jot was well known in her community for her joyful personality, brilliant smile and tight hugs. She loved people and possessed a very giving heart. Oftentimes, Jot put the wants and needs of others above her own. Her contagious smile always revealed itself, even on days when she was not feeling well herself. Her smile, soft spoken voice, and agreeable spirit was always evident.

She dedicated her life to the Lord at an early age at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Ashburn, GA. She graduated from Eureka High School in 1965. Throughout her life, she ventured into various occupations, however, her passion was being a childcare provider.

Jot was blessed with one daughter of her own whom she loved and cared for dearly. Her love and cared flowed beyond her home. Jot was a mother to so many, which found great joy and lifelong passion for children. She was a light to all that were blessed to know her.

Hattie Carol, affectionately known as "Jot", departed this life at the Pruitt Healthcare Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.

Hattie Carol leaves to cherish memories: her only loving and caring daughter, Vonda Kay Shipman (Willie Burkes),Albany, GA, granddaughter Michaela L. Hudson, Albany, GA, Granddog Ali, Albany, GA; Four loving sisters; Ella Mae Dunbar (Wayne) Tampa, FL, Joyce Longley Orlando, FL, Barbara Hall (Mack) Ashburn, GA, and Linda Shipman Tampa, FL.; Four brothers, Clark Shipman (Daisy) Dallas, TX, Sam Johnson (Becky) Ashburn, GA, Gus Shipman and Greg Shipman, both of Tampa, FL; A loving and devoted cousin, Donna Bateman, Ashburn, GA, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends whom she loved dearly.
