Obituary

Jimmie Lee Perkins, Jr., affectionately called "Junior", was born on May 21, 1948, in Atlanta, Georgia and was called home to join his mother and father on January 24, 2020.


Jimmie was the only child of the late Jimmie Lee Perkins Sr. and Claudia Bell Mason Perkins. He was raised in Fort Valley, Georgia with his parents and immediate family.&


Junior joined Oak Grove Baptist Church in Fort Valley at an early age. He was also a member of the Choir since he truly loved to sing.


Junior attended the Fort Valley Kay Community Service Center, for many years and was a very competitive person. While attending the Kay Community Center he participated in several Special Olympic tournaments, winning several trophies and medals.


Junior was a very special person who loved his family and friends. He also enjoyed watching football, wrestling and western movies. He was very inquisitive and always wanted to know what was going on, and loved attending family cookouts.


Junior will be missed and is survived by his aunts, Lois Perkins and Eunice Lemmons, both of Atlanta, cousins Patricia Perkins, Jessie Mae McGhee, Walter (Jewel) Fallings, Anthony Mason, and a host of other family members, friends and his long-time caregiver, Sharon Howard.
