IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kerey Elijah
Weatherspoon, Sr
January 3, 1981 – January 13, 2017
To know him is to love him. Born January 3, 1981, Kerey& Elijah Weatherspoon, Sr. was the youngest of three children blessed to parents Elijah and Brenda Weatherspoon. Some would call him "spoiled," but even at an early age, Kerey exercised his gift of persuasion through his winning smile, compassionate nature and charming wit. His unmatched sense of humor was strategically tucked into the funny stories for which he will always be remembered.
Raised by a family with an infamous love of God, music and sports, it was no surprise that Kerey was a member of Peach County Marching Band and Basketball Team, Masonic Lodge and Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as its first and only percussionist, the Young Adult Ministry and was awarded Young Man of the Year. His witness extended to his work as a Little League coach, an obvious calling for a father who instilled his passion for life and learning into the lives of his children, Kayleigh, Kerey Jr. (KJ), Malachi and Davion, as well as his nephew and niece, Eric and Kynadi.
Affectionately known throughout the community, "Spoon" never met a stranger. His coworkers and friends looked forward to memorable conversations, whether at Fort Valley Fire Department, Pizza Hut, Walmart, Harvey's Supermarket, A Cut Above the Rest, or C.J. Edward's Funeral Home. He so enjoyed service to families, especially the elderly. This led him to enroll in Central Georgia Technical College to better serve his beloved community.
Friday morning, January 13, 2017, began much like any other day. Kerey Weatherspoon headed for class, but not without a very passionate exchange with his loving bride, Yolanda Jones Weatherspoon. Theirs is a love of a lifetime, celebrated before God, family and friends, here at Trinity, April 30, 2016. No one could have anticipated that God would call Kerey home Friday, but his wings were ready, although our hearts were not.
Please continue to pray for, uplift and support the cherished memories of his wife, Yolanda, and his children, Kayleigh, Kerey Jr, Malachi and Davion, as they grow in grace. Encourage the strength of Asia and Khadijah. Cover his dear parents, Dea. Elijah and Brenda Weatherspoon; his siblings, Katina (Levi) Weatherspoon Kendrick and Kevin Genard Weatherspoon (fiancé Tangie Shackleford), niece and nephew, Eric and Kynadi. May peace surround his mother-in-law, Dr. Tangela Cliett, sister-in-law, Markel Jones, as well as his uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends. Remember his God-parents, Mrs. Lillian Kimbro, Mrs. Ada Gadsden, Dea. John and the late Mrs. Jacqueline Demons, Dea. Philip & Mrs. Inez Brewton, Mr. Samuel & Mrs. Ernestine Tukes and the late Mrs. Geraldine Troutman and families. Our lives are richer for having known Mr. Kerey Elijah Weatherspoon, Sr.
