Funeral Services for Mrs. Lesteen Jones Mazique

Rosharon, Texas - The Matriarch of our beloved family, Lesteen Jones Hill Mazique, also lovingly known as "Sue", "Auntie","Ma" and "Nana" left us broken hearted but strong on June 23, 2017, peacefully asleep while in Rosharon, Texas.

She was born December 16, 1942 to Icey Lee Jones and Ellen Jones. She had a brother Robert Jones and Sister Ruby Mae Houston, who preceded her in death. Lesteen was married to Richard Hill and Mack Mazique. She was one of the last great elders of our very large family.

She always claimed she was shy… but she was a passionate woman who loved her family, her opera and her television. Lesteen was a strong undeniable force of a woman, whom when she got dressed up, you felt insulted because her confidence and style was indubitable.& She was a woman whose strength, will, and faith in God touched everyone who knew her.

Sometimes the truth hurts, but truth is a quality Lesteen breathed into all of us.

The lessons and influence she's left will be shared for generations to come.

There are so many things you will be remembered for Mommy. Your work ethic. Your cooking. Your sarcasm. Your loving and kind gentle ways. YouLesteen, was an amazing woman. We want you to know that because of you, we exist. We honor and love you so that all of our days will be long in the land in which the Lordour God gives us.

She is survived by five children, Nicotra, Roderic, Rachel, MC and MD, twostepdaughters, Lovey and Marisa, 16 grandchildren, and onegreat-grand- child. She is Auntie to Chris, Robert, Eva, Richard, Joseph, Donald,Juliaand Alton; their children and their children's children.
