IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lillian (Byrd)
Dixon
February 10, 1922 – January 18, 2017
Lillian Byrd Dixon was born February10,1922 in Crawford County, Georgia to the late Susie Sanders Schofield and was loved and nurtured by grandparents, Robert (Bob) and Lucinda Sanders Byrd.& She was the oldest of twelve children; eight preceded her in death.
At a very early age, Lillian joined the Harris Chapel CME Church where she remained an active member until her illness. She was a member of the Missionary Board and the oldest member of the church.
She was joined in Holy Matrimony for over 60 years to Hezzie Dixon who preceded her in death. To that union, six children were born. After marriage, they continued to live in Crawford County but later moved to Fort Valley where they resided until their deaths.
Lillian was a domestic worker in and around Fort Valley and was very much in demand because of the pride that she took in doing her job, no matter how small. She was many things to many people but most people knew her for her strong determination, hard work and her love for her children.
Lillian Dixon leaves to celebrate her life: daughters, Dollie Dixon Horton, Ethel Dixon Rumph, Betty Dixon Grace (Artha), Sandra Dixon Daniel and Debbie Dixon Tummings (Trevor); sons, Daniel Dixon, J.B. Davis and Hezzie Dixon; twelve grandchildren, three preceded her in death; thirteen great grandchildren; brothers, John W. Schofield and Leon Schofield; sister, Mattie Pearl Hill; former son-in-law, Matthew Daniel, Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
