Funeral Services for Mrs. Louvenia Parks


Fort Valley, Georgia - Funeral services for Mrs. Louvenia Parks will be held on Friday, September 25, 2015 at the New Hope Baptist Church in Perry, Geroga. &Burial will follow in the Davis Hill Cemetery.


On September 21, 2015 at her home in Fort Valley, Georgia. Louvenia known as "Venia" was born November 5, 1954 in Perry, Georgia to the late Mr. Lee Scott, Sr., and Mrs. Lilla Mae Scott. At an early age, Louvenia joined Davis Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Revened E. L Clark. She served on the Usher Board, song in the choir, and in addition to serving on various planning committees within the church. In 2011, she joined New Hope Baptist Church, Perry, Georgia, where she attended until her health failed.


Louvenia graduated from Perry High School in 1972. She went on to earn an Associate Degree in Information Technology from Fort Valley State University; she also earned certificates in Business & Office Technology and Information and Office Technology from Middle Georgia Technical College. Over the last 16 years, Louvenia was employed at Fort Valley State University as a Data Entry Clerk from 1999-2000 in the Human Resources Department and a Clerical Assistant, Career and Alumni Services. Louvenia enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren (attending their football, baseball, basketball games); spending time with her family and close friends; dancing; playing spades; and preparing meals for her family and close friends.


Louvenia was preceded in death by her parents Lilla Mae Scott and Lee Scott Sr. and her sister Essie Bell Leonard.


Louvenia is survived by her husband John Henry Parks of 20 years; two devoted daughters: LaVasa Parks, Erica Lawson (Michael); three grandchildren: Armard Davis Jr., Michael Lawson Jr., and Mylah Lawson; five siblings; Mary Howard (Nathaniel), Larry Scott, Lucky Scott, Ronald Scott, Lee Scott Jr., and Kenneth Leonard Sr. (son in law): devoted nieces; Tomekio Scott, Teirameka Haynes and Alyse Scott; aunts and uncles: Carton Green, Ollie Green, Annie Willie Campbell, Lavern Hillsman (Smith), Elizabeth Clarington and Martha Green, Mae Pearl Lowe, Bottie King, Annie Bell Thompson, Pauline Clark, Reatha Mae Sims, John L. Scott (Vera), Georgia Scott (Sarah), and Fannie Clark.


A host of other nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
