Fort Valley, Georgia- Funeral services for Mrs. Madie Ruth Davis Cornelious will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 5, 2015 in the sanctuary of Trinity Baptist Church in Fort Valley, Georgia. Burial will follow in Willow Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
& Madie Ruth Davis Cornelious was called home on September 30, 2015. She passed peacefully in her sleep. Madie was born September 10, 1934 to Jessie Davis and Christine Boykin.
After high school, Madie married David Cornelious in 1952. In 1960, the family moved to Fort Valley, Georgia. After graduation from Crandall Business College, Madie worked for the Peach County School System.
When her husband retired from the Crawford County School System, they bought the Community Food Center, which they managed for many years.
After her husband passed away in 1980, she helped raise her grandchildren. She lived in Washington, DC for fifteen years until we moved back to Georgia three months ago.
Madie was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church. She ministered in the church choir, Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School.
She was known for her friendly smile, and willingness to serve the people of God.
Madie is survived by her four children: Fredrick Cornelious, Denise Woods (Edwin), Vendya Gardner, and Dwight Cornelious (Janice); thirteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, and many sorrowing friends.
