Fort Valley, GA- Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Elizabeth Dill Lindsey of Fort Valley, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Peach County High School Auditorium.&
Mildred Elizabeth Dill Lindsey began her eternal life on Saturday, October 3, 2015. She is most known for her service to the Peach County education community, influencing the lives of youth for more than 30 years starting as Kindergarten teacher and culminating as Principal of Hunt Primary School. Her life in education would then continue in retirement as Executive Director for Literacy Education for Adults in Peach (L.E.A.P.). Her family will always remember her as "The Educator."
Mildred Elizabeth Dill was born on Wednesday, November 30, 1949, to the parents of Marcus and Sarah Dill, in Washington, Wilkes, Georgia. She was very blessed to share her childhood with half-brother, Robert, and cousins, Jessie, Rosa Mae, Emma, Albert, and Earl.
Upon graduating from Washington Central High School, she attended Fort Valley State College and received a BS Degree in Music Education. She earned a Masters in Early Childhood Education and became a Kindergarten Teacher for 15 years. After earning an L6 degree, she became the Principal of Hunt Primary School where she served in this position for 12 years. She worked two years at the Board of Education as a Math Curriculum Specialist. She later served as Executive Director for L.E.A.P., where she assisted adults in earning a GED diploma. She initiated computer classes for Senior Citizens and worked collaboratively with various organizations. Mildred was a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She firmly believed that life is all about helping others … it's not about us!
Mildred joined Usher's Temple C.M.E. Church of Fort Valley and served as a Stewardess, Trustee, Musician, Sunday School Teacher/Student, Missionary, Choir Director/Member, and Director for the Board of Christian Education. She was always inspired to give life in music and in teaching. Most recently, she joined Beulahland Bible Church and often expressed love for their role in her life.
Mildred leaves to cherish her memory, (Husband) Randolph, (Son) Carlos (Liz), (Son) Kelvin (LaTesha), (Granddaughters) Zion Kristia, Morgan Elise, Ava Elizabeth (coming soon), (Brother-in-law) Rudolph Jr. (Sarah), (Sisters-in-law) Eleanor Gaston (Larry), Gloria Alexander, (Special Sister-Cousin) Jessie Thompson, (Cousins) Willie Mae Hurley, Collie Will Hurley, Paul E. Hurley, Larry Hurley, Jeraldine Rush, Lee Hampton, Willie Hampton, Eugene Hampton, Julia Mickens and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held at C.J. Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Valley on Friday, October 9 from 4 to 6 PM. Funeral Services will be held at the Peach County High School Auditorium (900 Campus Drive, Fort Valley, GA 31030) on Saturday, October 10 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Literacy Education for Adults in Peach (L.E.A.P.), P.O. Box 2261, Fort Valley, GA 31030
