Marshallville, Georgia - Funeal services for will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the sanctuary of the St. James CME Church in Marshallville, Georgia where Rev. Billy Heard is the pastor.& Burial will follow in Colonel Felton Cemetery. Mrs. Mittie Lavon Hooten Petty was born on June 19, 1950 in Fort Myers, FL to the late Edward Lee Hooten and Bertha Mae Barner. Mittie attended the public schools of Peach County and graduated from San Francisco, CA.

At an early age, she confessed Christ as her personal savior and joined Springhill Baptist Church of Marshallville, Georgia. She proudly served on the Women Ministry at Springhill Baptist Church as well as an activist in the community .

She leaves to cherish her memory; her beloved daughter Leontyne Michelle Bacon and three grandchildren; Cedrica M. Bacon, 2nd Lt. Cedric Bacon Jr. and Izola M. Bacon. Seventeen siblings; Mary Louise Crocker (Eugene), Freddie Bryant (Essie), Annette Simon, Melvin Jones (Diana) Easter Mae Jones, Sandra Cosby, Charlie Hooten , Blanche Porter ( Fredrick), Robert Hooten ( Sharon), Oliva Frazier ( Anthony), Anne Slater, Terry Barner, Valerie Johnson ( Lyndon), Willie Hooten ( Tetse), Wynelle Spivey (Bobby), Mary Ann Fudge, her mentor; Martha Bacon, Best friends Carolyn Jennings and Linda Hooten with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
