Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Hillsman will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11:00 am in the sanctuary of Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Walter L. Glover, officiating.& Mother Hillsman made her transition on Friday, October 27, 2017 while at her residence.
Elsie Putman Hillsman was September 24, 1922 to the late Robert and Estella Carrington Putman in Crisp County, Cordele, Georgia. She received very little public school education; however, she was a very smart lady and highly educated in the word of God! Early in life she accepted Christ and maintained her Christian Devotion the duration of her life. She proudly claimed the title as one of the oldest member of Shiloh Baptist Church, under the leadership of her son, Pastor Morris Hillsman.
Elsie was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. John Hillsman. She was the proud mother of 7 children and at least 4 generations of grands.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Hillsman, Sr.; three children, Elder Zobbie Williams, Sister Susie Hillsman Simmons Bowman and Minister Gracie Lee H. Glover.
She leaves to cherish her memories and celebrate a life well lived, her children:Reverend Morris (Bernice) Hillsman, Florine Ezell, Katie Ridley and John (Joyce) Hillsman, Jr; four generations of grandchildren;two sisters, Lola Bell Weaver and Lizzie (LC) Johnson; one daughter-in-law, Fannie Williams; two sisters-in-law, Susie Pearl Johnson and Ruth Daniels; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
