Obituary

Mrs. Julia Mae Allen Smith was born on April 1, 1923 to the late Daniel Allen, Sr. and the late Lee Clara Allen in Fort Valley, GA.

She was a graduate of Henry Hunt High School, c/o 1942. After graduating, Julia relocated to Newark, NJ where she resided for approximately 70 years. She joined Clinton Memorial AME Zion Church in Newark, and was a member for well over 50 years. At Clinton, Julia served on the Usher Board and Stewardess Board.

For over 26 years, Julia worked for ITT Industrial Federal Division in Nutley, New Jersey. She then worked as a Home Health Care Aide for many years and retired in 1999.

She met and married the late Mr. Robert Smith, Sr. in 1958 and remained in this union until his death in 2007. In 2013, Julia returned to her native of Fort Valley, GA to be surrounded by her loving family. She re-joined her childhood church, Usher's Temple CME, and remained a member until her death.

Julia leaves to cherish her memories to her son, Robert Smith, Jr.

(Jane) of Virginia Beach, VA; granddaughter, Nicole Smith of California; grandson, Robert Smith, III of Virginia Beach, VA; devoted nieces, Cassandra Allen Savoy of Richmond, CA; Sharon Allen Williams of Fort Valley, GA; Katrina Prater of Warner Robins, GA and Coretta Prater McKenzie (Chris) of Perry, GA. A devoted nephew, Lyndon Prater of Warner Robins, GA; a dedicated bonus daughter, Barbara Scott of Florida, and a host of great nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
