Reuben Jones was born June 29, 1926 in Powersville, Georgia to the late Andrew Jones and Florilla Booze.& He later married Ola M. Ross of Houston County. This union was the blessings of two children, Ronnie Jones (Nannette) who preceded him in death in 2001 and Janet B. Scott III; four grandsons: Keith Jones, Maurice, Ryan and Brandon Scott. There are ten great-grandchildren; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Reuben attended Peach County Schools. As a matter of fact his early childhood education began at this original church house. He was an avid reader. He and others have said he has read every book that the library contained at the church school. He majored in social science at Fort Valley State College where he received a B.S. Degree in Social Science.
He served as an auto mechanic instructor at Macon Vocational School from 1947 to 1950. In later years he opened an Auto Repair Shop on Carver Drive in Fort Valley followed by managing Triangle Service Station with John W. McGhee for many years. He retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base after 20 years of service. During his service at Robins he was chairman of maintenance's Minority EEOC and vice chairman o WRAMA Minority EEOC.
He served with the army, WWII in the Korean Conflict and Berlin Crisis. Reuben retired MSGT Army Reserve; 21 years of service.
Throughout the years of services he received many awards and certificates for his diligence in serving and helping others; always searching for the next business venture. There was Three Flags in Crawford County which he took much pride in, Skins and Stuff and Big Chick in Warner Robins, Ga. He was never afraid to give it a try.
