Funeral Services
for
Mother Sarah Lillian Smithson Robinson
& A lifelong resident of Bible Camp Road in Byron, GA, Mother Sarah Lillian Smithson Robinson was born in March 1922 to Joseph and Mary Smithson. She was the eldest of three children. Her sister, Eula Brady and brother, Marion Smithson, both preceded her in death. Both of her parents passed away when Mother Robinson and her siblings were very young. They were raised by relatives.
For many years Mother Robinson worked as a field hand and housekeeper. She also worked in food service, including a job at Davidson's (now Macy's) Tea Room in Atlanta. Eventually, she became a dietary worker with the Peach County School System. After retiring from the School System, Mother Robinson was employed as a food service worker at the Blue Bird Bus Company for a brief time.
Being a faithful, devoted, lifelong member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Mother Robinson served in many capacities; the most recent as President of the Usher's Board. However, illnesses and failing physical abilities eventually limited her activities. Even in declining health, she continued to praise God for blessing her with His mercy and grace.
Mother Robinson's physical presence will be forever missed by her family, her neighbors, her Church family and by all who ever got to know her sweet, warm, loving spirit. She touched a lot of lives during her 93 years here on earth. She fought a good fight. Her victory is won. On Sunday, September 6th, 2015, she was called to rest in the bosom of our Savior, Jesus Christ! Let us celebrate a life well lived.
In 1941, Mother Robinson married Royal Van Robinson who had migrated to Peach County from Waycross, GA. He also preceded her in death. This union produced eight children: Dorothy Johnson of Atlanta, GA; Mary Robinson (deceased); Vanette Spradley of Baltimore, MD; Royal Van Robinson, Jr. (deceased); Connie McKinney (Leon) and Sandra Robinson both of Warner Robins, GA, Laverne Howell (Miller) of Byron, GA; and Randy Robinson (Teresa) of Virginia Beach, VA. Other survivors include: 22 grandchildren,42 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives, devoted neighbors, dedicated church family, and many, many friends.
