Fort Valley, Georgia - Mrs. Willie Mae Cox passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016. &Funeral services will be held in the Sanctuary of theShiloh Baptist Church ofFort Valley, Georgia on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Willow Lake Memorial Gardens.
Willie Mae Cox was born April 3, 1948 in Houston County, Perry, Georgia to the parents of Bertha L Duncan and Curtis Collins; Willie Mae was reared by her grandparents, the late Samuel and Effie Kate Collins Clayborn of Powersville, Georgia. She grew up in the Powersville Community where she gave and received much loved.
She was educated in Peach County Public School System.
Early in life Willie Mae joined First Baptist Church where she was a faithful member and served on the Ushers Board for many years; later she moved her membership to Bethel AME Church and she continued to served wherever needed, her passion was serving on the Church's Mission Ministry. After moving to Fort Valley she decided to move her membership to a church in her community; being a spiritual and praying woman, she was guided by the Holy Spirit she joined the Shiloh Baptist Church where she continued her passage.
Willie Mae was a retired Cook from Raceway Restaurant, Byron, Georgia. Her love for people led her to the (OAC) Fort Valley Senior Citizens Group.
Willie Mae will always be remembered as a Trusting, Giving and Loving person. Her love and sharing demeanor was one that once you came into her presence, you could not forget her.
She was also preceded in death by a sister Delane Luster.
Surv: mother of two children; one sister, Cynthia Wilson, Cinn, OH; one brother, Thurislee Clayborn of Cinn, OH; devoted cousins, Emmett (Pearl) Maynard of Ft Vy and Reverend Johnny Maynard of Byron, GA and Laura Turner, Emma Williams, Annie Brown and Shirley, Owen Collins, Dwight Collins all reared as sisters and brothers; host of other cousins, nieces and nephews and many sorrowing friends.
